Maria Zimmitti, Ph.D. & Associates and Educational Solutions, LLC are partners in offering one-on-one and small group tutoring programs in reading, writing, language and math. The tutorial programs are designed to reduce learning deficits and/or advance students to grade level and beyond.
Storybook Reading Classes (for Ages 3-6)
The class goal is to introduce emergent readers to engaging, language rich stories that encourage interactions designed to build oral language skills, which is the precursor to reading and writing.
Reading and Math Preparation for Early Learners:
This program is designed to prepare students for the reading and math skills they will encounter in kindergarten, first, and second grade. The class is excellent for students moving from Montessori programs (with limited reading and math exposure prior to 1st grade) to more rigorous public or private school programs.
Language to Literacy Program (for 1st Grade Through High School students):
This scientifically-motivated program builds reading, writing, and language skills for beginning, intermediate and advanced readers. The program incorporates instruction in the five essential components of successful reading intervention outlined by the National Reading Panel (including phonics, phonemic awareness, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and vocabulary) in addition to writing instruction (including brainstorming, outlining, and editing at the sentence, paragraph and multi-paragraph levels).
Math Skills Workshop (For 3rd Grade Through High School Students):
This in-depth math program provides cumulative review of basic math skills, building a strong foundation for future math learning. Repetition of key math operations creates the groundwork for understanding higher-level math concepts. With an emphasis on test-taking techniques, the program is also designed to improve performance on standardized tests.
SAT Test Preparation Course
This in-depth program involves intensive preparation for the SAT (math, verbal and/or writing skills classes available) including an overview of concepts covered on the test, an introduction to test taking strategies, a guided practice test-taking component, and a series of assignments for independent practice.
